Here’s how the Operation Transformation leaders got on this week

From healthier food choices to tailored fitness plans, the five Operation Transformation leaders have been doing everything in their power to improve their lifestyles over the last week – and the results are certainly showing.

Between the help of fitness experts and their own incredible motivation, the group managed to lose 12 pounds collectively.

After losing a staggering 17 pounds in the first week – a first for Operation Transformation – Shane considered quitting the show after becoming overwhelmed.

However, last week’s weigh-in saw Shane lose a much more sustainable four pounds, and he’s continuing to go from strength to strength.

Yesterday’s weigh-in saw the exact same result; Shane lost another four pounds, meeting his exact target.

Next we have leader Lorraine, who lost one-pound, of her two-pound target.

“Your volume this week was fantastic – over 70km of movement. That’s brilliant. But the intensity is again really low, it’s dipped back down in terms of intensity,” Karl Henry said.

“The effort levels are low and that’s one of the reasons why you haven’t hit your target. It’s a pound, which is great, three and a half thousand calories, but it’s not the two pounds that we set,” he continued.

But Sumi had another theory as to why Lorraine’s target hadn’t been met this week and it was due to her menstrual cycle.

Sumi advised that when women are menstruating, “we are water retaining, we are holding on to fluid, and with that retention of fluid, you may not have the success that you wanted.”

For leader Barry, this week was almost as successful as the last, as he lost an amazing four pounds, one pound over his target of three.

Karl told him: “I’m really concerned, and slightly shocked, with your daily step count. Each week you’ve had the lowest count of any of the leaders and this week it’s exactly the same; the numbers are really low.”

He continued: “We need to get more movement into your day, outside of the Operation Transformation plan, just general daily movement. So let’s use technology, aim for 12,000 steps, and see how we go.”

Elsewhere, Barry’s wife and fellow leader Andrea had similar success this week, hitting her three pound target on the money.

“The really good thing this week is that you’ve had almost all fat loss. Muscle loss is stabilising so that’s brilliant and I think we’re at a really good place now.”

Finally, leader Tanya plateaued after losing a staggering 9 pounds last week.

At yesterday’s weigh-in, Tanya retained her current weight, neither losing pounds or gaining them.

Dietician and judge Aoife Hearne reassured her: “I am absolutely not worried, I think some big takeaways this week are that you are actually up muscle and down body fat. So, there’s a change in body composition, which is actually the most important thing.”

How amazing did the leaders do this week?!
