Dancing with the Stars made its highly anticipated debut last night – and it raked in the viewers!
The dancing show saw an average audience of 640,000 viewers, with over 1.2 million viewers tuning in over the course of the two-hour programme.
Presented by Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne, last night’s show introduced audiences to the 11 dancing celebs who wowed audiences with their opening group number Puttin’ on the Ritz.
Over the course of the show, all five of the male celebs took to the dance floor for the first time with their respective dance partners with Hometown’s Dayl and his partner Ksenia Zsikhotska’s modern take on the Charleston topping the leader board. Next week it’s the turn of the female celebs with eliminations kicking off from the third week of the show.
Speaking about the impressive figures, Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller for RTÉ One and RTÉ2, said: “It’s great to see Dancing with the Stars get off to such a strong start. We wanted to bring some glamour and sparkle to Sunday nights on RTÉ One and create fun family appointment-to-view television. Well done to Shinawil and all our celebs for their hard work and we’re looking forward to seeing how the drama unfolds on the dance floor over the next 11 weeks.”
We’re sure the ladies will attract just as many viewers next week!
