Home and Away star Dan Ewing has proven he has a good grasp on Irish slang.

The actor played a game recently which saw him guess the meaning of popular Irish terms.

“The very cheeky people at RTÉ have given me some Irish words that I’m going to try to guess,” he said.

Dan, who plays Heath Braxton was asked about terms including dry shite, manky, bogger and culchie.

When it came to one of our favourite words, the actor had a rough idea of what it meant.

“I’m going to say ‘shift’ is a sort of sexual intercourse kind of thing,” he said.

Upon finding it out only means to kiss, he said: “Typical Aussie, I just went straight to the gutter”.

The star also apologised to the people of Kildare after assuming ‘bogger’ meant ‘a number two’.
