Health Kick with Louise O’Riordan

We sat down with the joint founder of SISTERLY supplements, Louise O’Riordan, to pick her brains about her health routine.

Self-care means to me…
When I think of self-care, I think about what I’m feeding my mind and body with to stay nourished, joyful, healthy, and curious. My self-care list is long when I write it down, but I rotate depending on what I need that week. I kick off every morning with my Sisterly sachet. Manis, pedis, and regular blow-dries always help me feel put-together along with an outfit I’m happy in. After living in LA for the past 11 years, my routine there includes weekly infrared saunas, cryotherapy, and lymphatic drainage. I love Hot Pilates with Shannon Nadj—it’s available online too, which helps keep me consistent when I’m on the move. I’m also into tennis, pickleball, dancing, and golf. Starting the day with a swim and a hot tub is another favourite.

The best health advice I ever got was…
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” It applies to every part of health. All too often I think we are quick to cancel that walk with a friend or that visit to the gym when things get busy. Instead, plan these classes and get-togethers in advance and treat them as your non negotiables. They are not an indulgence, they are essential for your wellbeing and energy.

The biggest learning I’ve had lately…
After years in LA, I’ve been spending more time in Dublin – and I’ve realised how quickly you can fall out of your self-care rhythm when your people and places aren’t established yet. Thankfully, our Sisterly events have created some structure, but I’m still figuring out what my new routine looks like here so I’ve been trying all kinds of fitness classes and beauty treatments. My favourites are John Belton for personal training, Platinum Pilates, Peggy at the laser clinic in Monkstown for any skin concerns, Audrey at Toni and Guy to fix any bad hair day and for a treat, the amazing treatment with Biologique Recherche at The Merrion Hotel Spa which includes a facial and a lymphatic drainage.

The mantra I live by…
Surround yourself with people who feel like sunshine.

The supplement I swear by…
I know I’m biased, but I genuinely swear by Sisterly. It’s the first supplement I’ve been able to stay consistent with. It took us three years and an incredible team of scientists to get the formulation right, and I feel the difference every day. I have more energy, better focus, and my hair, skin, and nails seem to love it too.

The biggest challenge I’ve faced…
My dad had a serious fall a few years ago, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. It changed everything – as any life-altering event in a family does. It’s given me a much deeper appreciation for life, for resilience, and for staying connected to what really matters.

The life hack that saves me…
A positive and grateful mindset. I try to start each day by choosing to see the good – in people, in situations, and in whatever the day brings. I’ve learned not to waste energy on things I can’t control. Simple re-frames make a big difference – like saying “I get to” instead of “I have to.” It’s a small shift, but it changes everything.

My wellbeing bible is…
Atomic Habits by James Clear. It’s simple, powerful, and totally actionable – a must-read for anyone looking to build better routines. R Health Club by Rosemary Ferguson is also a super resource for inspiring recipes, health hacks and regular challenges. Mel Robbins is worth a listen for mindset and motivation, and Dr. Stacy Sims has been a good resource for us in understanding female physiology, especially around hormonal health, training, and nutrition.

My great escape is…
Costa Careyes. It’s a piece of heaven. I go every year and time it with Ondalinda, a music and art festival a friend of mine runs. It’s a magical mix of sunshine, dancing, creativity, good food, and sea swims. I always leave recharged and inspired. This year, I’m also taking my mum to SHA Wellness – it’s been on my travel wish list for a while. I love their approach to wellbeing blending cutting-edge health technology with holistic practices. There’s a programme for every type of goal, and I can’t wait to experience it with her.

My plan…
Launching Sisterly with my incredible co-founders, Aoife Matthews and Jenny O’Connell, has been an amazing journey. My plan now is to get Sisterly into the hands of every busy woman who wants to feel a little more energised, vibrant, and grounded and build our community to one that is truly global. I also want to continue advising other founders on building brands that matter – because when women support women, incredible things happen.
