Storm Keating has said that she and Ronan Keating had to have very serious conversations early on in their relationship.
The couple met in 2010 when Ronan was on the Australian X Factor and Storm was a producer.
“We were in a very unusual situation because we had to face really big things early on in our relationship because we didn’t want to come out and be dating until we knew there were real legs to it,” she told Loose Women.
“Because the kids were there and he had this whole other life that was worlds apart from mine and I was quite nervous about that. We had really serious conversations which people don’t have on the first, second or third date, but we did.”
Ronan married Yvonne Connolly in 1998 but the couple split in 2010. They have three children together, Ali, Missy and Jack who are now aged 13, 17 and 19.
Storm explains that she was worried about bringing them into their relationship until she knew it was serious.
“We were really blessed, from the first time we met them we all got on like a house on fire. They didn’t know at the very begging that we were dating because I was a producer on the show… as things progressed we warned them to the situation slowly and were very cautious to make sure we did that,” she explained.
“They are the best kids, and I love them, they are 100% our priority.”
Storm also revealed that Ronan had initially said that he did not want any more kids, which was difficult for her because she’d always planned to me a mother.
“That was really difficult for me because I always pictured having kids of my own, so I went away and thought about it and had to be really honest with myself – but I knew in my heart that I could live the rest of my life without kids but I couldn’t live without him,” she said.
However, as they became closer Ronan soon realised that he did want to have children with his love Storm.
“I didn’t think I was going to, I think you might have that idea in your head, but then when you’re with someone that you love you know you want to share that experience with that person.”
The couple welcomed their first son together Cooper, in 2017.
“We’ve been really lucky with Cooper, he’s a little legend, he sleeps 12 hours at night, that alone is incredible,” Ronan revealed.
“He’s such a great kid, then put in the mix going on tour and travelling all the time, it’s full on.”
