Grainne Seoige has revealed she’s made the big move back to Ireland with her husband Leon Jordaan after a number of years abroad.
The happy couple had been based in Pretoria, South Africa, for five years, but they recently decided it was time for change following a death in their family.
“Leon lost his dad last year and it has been a really strange year this year, as well all know,” Grainne said.
“He put it me that we only have a certain time with our families and to make the most of the time we have together.”
The pair will be living a short distance from her nearest and dearest, and can’t wait to reunite once it’s safe to do so.
“We will isolate ten miles from their house, instead of the other side of the world,” she said on the Six O’Clock Show.
“At least I know I am in the same country and when the vaccines comes around I will be straight out to Spiddle for a cup of tea.”
Grainne revealed while she’s thrilled to be back home in Ireland, it’s been a big adjustment and will take some time to get used to the Irish weather again.
“When you have done five years in Pretoria which has a stunning climate; 30 degrees, blue skies and dry humidity, it is hard when you come back. It is a real shock to the system,” she laughed.
Grainne wed her long-term love Leon Jordaan during a gorgeous ceremony in the Cliff at Lyons last December.
Keeping the guest list to under 100 people, the pair enjoyed an incredibly intimate day with their loved ones. Some of the guests in attendance included her sister Sile and pals Muireann O’Connell, Liam Cunningham and Maura Derrane.
“I, myself, cannot believe that a year has passed. This time last year we were putting our finishing touches to everything and putting together table plans,” she said.
“This year has been a year and decade all in one, a shapeless year that feels like it has gone on for 100 years. It already feels like we are on our fifth anniversary, rather than our first.”
