Graham Norton’s hit novel Holding is set to be made into a tv series which will be shot in Ireland this summer.

His debut novel topped the book charts when it was released in 2016, and now, ITV plan to make it into a four-part show.

“I am beyond excited to see the story and characters I created being brought to the screen,” said Graham.

“I love how the brilliant creative team have transformed my novel into something so rich and dramatic. West Cork is ready for its close-up.”

In the book, when the body of long-lost local legend Tommy Burke is discovered, Sergeant PJ Collins is called to solve a serious crime for the first time in his career.

PJ, who prefers to spend his time alone, finally has to connect with the village he has tried hard to avoid.

Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill will play the lead of PJ Collins in the ITV show and speaking of the role said, “I’m looking forward to getting to work with Kathy, the cast and crew, Dominic and everyone at Happy Prince on bringing Graham’s brilliant characters and story to the screen.”

Kathy Burke will be directing the show in Ireland, and can’t wait to get started in a few weeks.

“2021 is my 40th year working in the industry and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than directing Holding,” she said.

“It’s a beautiful piece of writing with a great story and fantastic, full bodied characters. All this with glorious West Cork as its setting proved irresistible.”

The show hasn’t been given any air date yet – but we’ll keep you posted on this!
