Graham Norton has paid tribute to Carrie Fisher, after it was announced that she passed away yesterday.
The Star Wars idol was rushed to hospital after she went into cardiac arrest while on a flight from London to L.A. on December 23rd, but despite medical efforts she was pronounced dead yesterday morning.
Family spokesman Simon Halls confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement to People Magazine yesterday evening.
The statement read: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers,”
Graham interviewed Carrie a number of times on his show and was also a good friend of the legendary actress.
The Irish presenter took to Twitter to share his sadness over her passing.
“Numb. Unbelievable that such a bright funny loving spark could be extinguished. @carrieffisher you will be missed. I wish you peace.”
