Republic of Ireland star David Meyler has revealed that his wife Cally Meyler is expecting a child following months of grief.
The couple suffered three miscarriages in a short space of time, but David took to social media today with some happier news.
Sharing a snap of himself holding a scan, he wrote: “After 17 months of heartbreak and agony I’m so happy to be able to post that my wife @callymeyler is expecting our second child next year.”
He added: “You’ve been through so much and I’m so proud of you. You’re an amazing mother and an incredible wife. Alanna and I love you so much.”
Speaking previously about the difficult loses the couple suffered, the Cork star revealed he wanted to leave the sport altogether as the miscarriages ‘took its toll’ on him.
He told Hull Live: “There’s no point beating around the bush, at one stage last season I wanted to finish with football. I’d had enough but Nigel [Adkins, football coach] was very good to me.”
The couple have one daughter together, who was born in 2016.
