Pumpkin picking once considered to be a very American tradition has now become a popular family Halloween activity across the pond.

Our Instagram feed used to be full of American families visiting pumpkin patches and taking cute pictures with their families, However, in the past few years we have seen many pumpkin patch businesses thriving here in Ireland as well.

There are a number of pumpkin patches dotted around the country that welcome children and adults alike. So, whether you are looking for a spooky family day out or want to take advantage of the fantastic Insta opportunities, there are plenty of aesthetically pleasing and fun-filled pumpkin farms to choose from.

Luggwoods Enchanted Forest – Dublin

Luggwoods Forest is situated near the village of Saggart in County Dublin. The family-run business holds seasonal-themed events for Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.

During the spooky season, Luggwood Forest welcomes visitors to their unique Halloween experience and mini pumpkin patch. The Halloween event takes place from October 19th to 31st.

Killarney Pumpkin Patch


Killarney Pumpkin Patch promises visitors an “authentic Halloween experience”. The patch is located in Headford just outside Killarney. The patch is open on weekends from October 5th to November 1st and on weekdays for the midterm.

There are plenty of activities including a corn maze, Hagatha the witch’s haunted cottage, and the farm’s resident alpacas. Tickets for the event go on sale on Thursday, September 5th.

Galway Pumpkin Patch


Galway Pumpkin Patch is located at the Castletaylor Estate in Ardrahannin, Galway. The patch has free parking for visitors and a free pumpkin is included with the family ticket bundle and an adult ticket.

Bookings for 2024 will open in the second week of September.

Joe’s Farm – Cork


Joe’s Farm is located in Killeagh in East Cork. The farm which is famous for its vegetable and mixed potato crisps also welcomes visitors to its pumpkin patch during the Halloween season.

Pumpkin pickers can pick their own pumpkins and learn about the other vegetables growing on the farm. The farm is open for pumpkin pickers during weekends from the 5th to the 29th of October from 10am until 3pm. Pre-booking is essential.

Streamvale – Belfast

Streamvale Farm is located on Ballyhanwood Road in Belfast. The open farm has a whole host of activities from children’s play areas to cuddling cute little rabbits and chicks. Come Halloween the farm provides plenty of seasonal activities like pumpkin picking and carving, a haunted house, and tractor and barrel rides.

The Halloween fun takes place on the 5th and 6th and the 10th to the 31st of October.

Don’t forget you’re going to be in a field in Ireland in October so be sure to bring those wellies and raincoats.
