It is officially December, and for the Christmas lovers out there this means the tree is up, the lights are glittering, and the first ten days of your advent calendar have already been devoured.

When December 1st comes along the only right way to spend the dark evenings is to re-watch all your festive favourites. From Home Alone to Christmas with the Kranks to Santa Clause one, two and three there are plenty of films to get you in the Christmas spirit.

However, if you are looking to broaden your Christmas film collection (or just don’t know if you can watch Elf for the millionth time) lucky for you 2024 has brought a whole host of new festive films for you to binge for the next 24 days (or more – we won’t judge).

Our Little Secret

In this brand new rom com which was released on Netflix on November 27th we see Lindsay Lohan dipping into the festive genre once again. Our Little Secret follows Avery (Lohan) and Logan (Ian Harding), two exes who are reunited for the holidays after they find out that their current partners are siblings.

Ten years since their dramatic break up, expect lots of awkward reunions, judgmental in-laws and of course some romance.

Our Little Secret is Lohan’s second Netflix Christmas film appearance after her role in the Christmas storybook rom-com, Falling for Christmas in 2022.

That Christmas

With new animated Christmas films becoming a rarity at Christmas, That Christmas by Richard Curtis may tie in well with your annual Arthur’s Christmas re-watch.

Richard Curtis, the creator behind this new festive animation is well known for his dabbling in the festive genre, with his 2003 film, Love Actually becoming a seasonal staple for many.

That Christmas is based on Richard Curtis’ trilogy of children’s books and is a super heartwarming watch for the whole family this Christmas. The film follows the Christmas plans of the residents of the fictional British town of Wellington-on-Sea which are thrown into chaos when a snowstorm hits.

With families separated and even Santa Claus feeling the pressure, the film directed by Simon Otto and co-written by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter encompasses the themes of love and loneliness and childhood at Christmas. The film even features an original song by Ed Sheeran.

Christmas Eve In Miller Point

If you are looking for some early 2000s nostalgia wrapped up in a Christmas film, then Christmas Eve in Millers Point is the film for you.

Directed by Tyler Taormina and starring nepo babies Michelle Scorsese and Sawyer Spielberg, this festive rom com is full of family drama and chaos that could give even Home Alone a run for its money. The film sees an American family returning to their ancestral home to celebrate their last Christmas there before it will potentially be sold.

In the midst of the family reunion one of the teenagers sneaks out on a Christmas Eve rendez-vous adding more drama to the already mounting mayhem.

Meet Me Next Christmas

Meet Me Next Christmas is another holiday themed romance to add to your Christmas watch list. The story follows Layla as she avidly attempts to get her hands on a ticket to a Pentatonix concert to reunite with the charming man she fell for last Christmas Eve while stranded at the airport.

On her journey to attain this ticket which she believes her future love story relies on she is aided by the amiable concierge, Teddy. Can you guess what will happen next?

Hot Frosty

Thanks to Netflix a new Frosty the Snowman is gracing our screens in 2024. Instead of the original rather emotional Jack Frost from 1998, this new version is a lot funnier and visually appealing as a hot snowman defrosts in time to bring widow, Kathy some Christmas joy.

Jack Snowman (AKA Hot Frosty) is portrayed by Schitts Creek’s Dustin Wallace and the widow Cathy is played by Lacey Chabert who is well known for her role as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls. We think you are gonna love this one!

Now if you happen to be reading this from the U.S., where you have access to the Hallmark and Lifetime channels then first, we are a tad jealous and second of all you have the means to watch the much anticipated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce inspired Christmas films. Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story and Christmas in the Spotlight were both inspired by 2024’s most famous couple.

Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story follows Alana, a huge Chiefs football fan as herself and her family try to win the team’s Fan of the Year competition. Incidentally, Alana may or may not become embroiled in a romance with the team’s Director of Fan Engagement. The film is available on the Hallmark channel.

Christmas in the Spotlight is available on Lifetime and follows the romance of a pro football player and a popstar. Ring any bells?
