Five events happening around Ireland this Midterm

With Halloween fast approaching it is time to start gathering the costumes and get planning your spooky season antics for this midterm.

Whether you fancy listening to some ceoil and having the craic or are looking for a way to keep the little ones entertained on their week off, there are plenty of ghoulishly spine-tingling events taking place around the country to fill your empty calendar.

The Nightmare Realm – Dublin City Market


Are you ready to test your courage and be absolutely scared out of your wits at the same time? Well, if that is a yes then you simply must make a visit to The Nightmare Realm’s new immersive experience: Village of Fear XV. Voted Europe’s best scream park in 2022, be ready to unleash screams and feel fear you never knew possible as you make your way through the many haunted rooms and mazes at this terrifying park.

The event begins on October 4th and ends on November 1st and visitors are urged to book tickets online before attending, especially during peak times like midterm. Tickets can be booked here.

Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival


There’s so much to do at this year’s Bram Stoker Festival. Frank and McStein are bringing their Monster Laboratory to Dublin Castle this October.

For all the crazy science buffs out there, who want to be immersed in this wicked experiment buckle up as these two crazy professors are about to bring you on a wild ride as they bring some pretty horrifying creatures to the land of the living.

Or you can head to the Abbey Theatre for a theatrical reading of Bram Stoker’s: Dracula: Lucy’s Passion. The event will take place on Sunday, October 27th at 6:30 pm.

For the kids who are looking for some terrifying and hilarious theatrics, MORB in association with Axis Ballymun are hosting a new show titled, The Haunting of Gusty Nook. Watch Belinda battle the monsters in a scary and funny performance for younger eyes and ears. The show will take place on Friday, October 25th at 4:00 pm and an ISL performance will also take place at 6:30 pm the same day.

Guinness Cork Jazz Festival

Embrace the craic and ceoil this October bank holiday weekend with Cork’s annual Jazz Festival. The beloved music festival is returning for its 46th year and is set to be a fantastic weekend of jazzy performances all over the city.

Discover the magical history of Ireland’s ancient east at Púca Festival in co. Meath. With everything from mythical folklore, ghoulish gastronomic delights and an incredible music lineup, Púca certainly has it all this Samhain. With performances from the likes of Gavin James, The High Kings, Jenny Greene and Kingfishr this is simply an unmissable celebration of Halloween.

The festival takes place from October 31st to November 3rd at Trim and Athboy and tickets can be purchased here.

Hurloween Tours at the GAA Museum

If you are looking for something fun and sporty to do with your GAA-loving kids, then the Hurloween Tours at the GAA Museum should definitely be on your list.

Visitors will learn all about hurling during a tour of the famous Croke Park stadium and they will also discover the intriguing legend of Setanta. The tours will take place from the 29th to the 31st of October. Tickets available here.
