Oh, we can’t wait for this one!
Yes, our very own Saoirse-Monica Jackson’s latest project is almost ready for release and we could not be more excited.
From creator and showrunner, Kathleen Jordan comes a soapy dark comedy, The Decameron.
Set to arrive on Netflix in July 2024, the series is said to be loosely inspired by the iconic short story collection of the same name.
So, what exactly can we expect?
According to Netflix, the series examines the all-too-timely theme of class struggles in the season of a pandemic, as a cast of misfits tries to outlast the bubonic plague pandemic in 1348 Florence.
Saoirse plays the role of Misia, a codependent servant of Pampinea (the soon-to-be lady of the villa).
Misia adores her demanding master and derives much self-worth from pleasing her – sounds like a fun character!
Starring alongside Saoirse include the likes of Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet, Tanya Reynolds, Jessica Plummer and more.
Previously speaking to Tudum about what viewers can expect from the show, Jessica who plays the role of Filomena, a spoiled oddball with a chip on her shoulder, compared the antics and silliness of the comedy series to a reality show.
“Think, like, Love Island, but back in the day,” she said. “A lot of drama, a lot of sex, a lot of, yeah, craziness.”
Yep, we’re in!
