
The first trailer for Giant, the biopic of former world featherweight champion ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed, starring our very own Pierce Brosnan as his Dublin-born boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, has officially dropped!
Joining pierce as the the legendary boxer is Amir El-Masry, who fans might recognise from roles in A Haunting in Venice, SAS: Rogue Heroes and Industry.
The film, which is written and directed by Rowan Athale is is “based on the remarkable real-life story of legendary British Yemeni boxing champion ‘Prince’ Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed”.
“Charting his inspiring rags-to-riches underdog tale from his humble beginnings in Sheffield to becoming champion of the world and a global sporting icon in the 1990s, the film explores the unlikely and tender relationship between Naz and his Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle; and the instrumental role that Ingle played on his road to success,” the synopsis reads.

Hamed was one of four world champions trained by Dublin-born Brendan Ingle at his renowned Wincobank gym in Sheffield, alongside Johnny Nelson, Junior Witter, and Kell Brook.
Widely regarded as Britain’s greatest boxing trainer, Ingle passed away in 2018 at the age of 77.
Hamed himself, competed from 1992-2002 and held numerous featherweight world championships.
A release date for the film has not yet been announced, so until then we’re just going to have to make do with the trailer.
