Fair City stars pay tribute as actor Tom Jordan sadly passes away

Legendary Fair City actor Tom Jordan has sadly passed away aged in his 80’s.

The star played much loved character Charlie Kelly in the long running soap since it first started back in 1989, and will be missed by family, friends and fans of the soap.

In a statement about the sad news today, Fair City producer Brigie de Courcy paid tribute to the Dubliner.

“This is devastating news,” she said.

“Tom Jordan was the heart of Fair City. He played Charlie Kelly from the very first episode and was a huge part of our plans for the future.

Tributes have been pouring in from around the country today, with past and present Fair City stars sharing their memories of Tom on this sad day.

“‪So very very sad to hear of Tom Jordan ’s passing,” actress Jenny Dixon, who played Kerrie Ann on the soap posted on social media.

“A wise mentor to me both on & off set. A pillar of strength. A long day of filming was made easier when you were there. Was an honour to work alongside you. My thoughts & prayers to him & his family.”

As well, former much loved star Clelia Murphy, who played Niamh on the show said “Tom Jordan. A gentleman. Great fun and always a pleasure to work with. A true pro. And a tireless campaigner for actors rights. Thank you for #entertaining us. May he rest in Peace. Carrigstown will be a poorer place without him.”

Johnny Ward, who also starred alongside Tom on the RTE show said of the actor “A true gent. Will miss our chats. RIP my friend.”

Our thoughts are with Tom’s family at this sad time.
