Fair City star Tony Tormey has revealed that it’s “odd” filming during the pandemic due to restrictions as he doesn’t have “much contact with the people he’s working with”.
Last year, the Irish soap halted filming for a number of weeks due to the pandemic, before starting up again with strict restrictions in place.
Tony, who plays Paul Brennan, explained, “It’s odd we’re only doing three shows a week now so we don’t have the same workload.
“Before Covid, you would be going into each other’s dressing rooms or you would be running lines and winding people up and having a laugh but when you go in now you stick to your own dressing rooms.”
He continued, “Even when you come out and do your stuff you go back to your dressing room, put your wardrobe away, you have to seal your costume and it’s time-consuming but it’s odd.
“It’s not like it was before obviously because you don’t have that much contact with the people you’re working with.”
Speaking on RTE’s Today Show with Dáithi Ó’Sé and Sinead Kennedy, Tony also revealed when he was told he landed the role, he initially thought it would only last for a couple of months.
“I remember being told I had the role. There being a big casting call for the audition and you had to go back for two more screen tests and then I had to kiss someone on camera to see if I could do that and then I was told I had it.
“I thought it was only going to be for a couple of months and here I am 32 years later.”
