Fair City actress Una Crawford O’ Brien shares heartbreak of losing daughter to cot death

Fair city actress Una Crawford O’ Brien has opened up about the heartbreaking death of her daughter in the 1990s.

The star, best known for playing Renee Phelan in the Irish soap, revealed she lost her little girl to cot death when she was just a few months old .

Speaking to Woman’s Way magazine, Una said, “She was 17 weeks when she died and it was the most wonderful 17 weeks.

“I had my older son and her and it was a wonderful time in my life but she suddenly went and it made me realise how much you have to appreciate life.”

She holds Sorcha’s memory close to her heart, and fondly remembers their precious time together.

“After all this time, there are times it makes me very sad to think about it.

She continued: “It might have been the worst thing that happened to me yet it was one of the best things when she was alive.”
