Experience delicious drama at the Abbey Theatre with Lindt Excellence

There’s something special about going to the theatre.

Heading out for the evening, engaging with Irish culture, and of course, enjoying some live performances.

The only thing that could make the experience more enjoyable (or more delicious, if you will) would be some indulgent Lindt Excellence chocolate to go along with it.

If that sounds right up your alley you’re in luck, because The Abbey Theatre is partnering with Lindt Excellence this autumn, to offer an extra touch of indulgence to each visit to the National Theatre of Ireland.

During the highly anticipated run of The Boy: A Two-Play Theatrical Event by Marina Carr, from 15 September to 1 November 2025, audiences will be treated to complimentary samples from the luxurious Lindt Excellence chocolate range.

Delicious… and dramatic!

Attendees will savour high-quality, refined dark chocolate flavours, including 70% Cocoa and Touch of Sea Salt. Samples will be available at Pegeen’s with every coffee purchased, and from the Abbey Bar, where the option will be available to pair chocolate with a thoughtfully curated wine menu.

Whether attending a performance or simply stopping in, it’s a delicious opportunity to experience excellence – on stage and off.

The Boy: A Two-Play Theatrical Event is a radical, contemporary and unmistakably Irish interpretation of the Greek myths of Sophocles’ Theban Trilogy.

The two part play continues Carr’s vivid conversation with the foundations of modern drama, casting a critical eye on fate, power and the cost of defiance – audiences can witness both plays back-to-back, or view each play as a standalone story.

Play One is called The Boy and is inspired by Oedipus Rex, while Play Two is called The God and His Daughter and is inspired by Oedipus at Colonus and Antigone.

The Boy is running on the Abbey Stage from Monday, 15th September until Saturday, 1st November 2025 as part of Dublin Theatre Festival, with previews from 15th -30th September.

You can book tickets here.
