Daniel and Majella O’Donnell have opened up about overcoming challenges in their 16-year-marriage.
The couple have gone through health issues and grief over the years but still remain as strong as ever.
“Well, aye. But what we’ve gone through is no more than any other person,” Daniel told VIP Magazine exclusively.
The singer explained that he actually feel lucky to have come through the struggles.
“Every person goes through loss and illness. At some point, everyone has to face some kind of challenge. That’s just life and you have to just accept what comes in life and allow the experience to make you stronger,”
Daniel added that although he wishes Majella’s illness wasn’t something she had to face, he is grateful that it was treatable.
Majella battled with breast cancer in 2013 but went through chemo and other treatment to beat it.
“In a way, we’ve been luckier than most,” Daniel adds.
“Of course, you wouldn’t choose to have cancer, but Majella got an early diagnosis and her recovery has been good.
Majella added that their strength as a couple helps them to get through hard times.
“We’re like a pair of socks. I’m the right and he’s the left. We’ll always plod along together quite happily.”
