Irish actress Eve Hewson has revealed that she nearly quit her acting career after “a bad experience on a film.”

Hewson, who is the daughter of U2 singer Bono, told the Radio Times, “I don’t want to put myself in a position where I’m being constantly treated like s**t.”

She added, “I think most actors have moments like that”. She also mentioned how it could sometimes be a “love-hate relationship” when it comes to the job.

The 33-year-old didn’t name the film set where this bad experience occurred. She made her debut in a feature-length film with The 27 Club in 2008 and starred in the Script’s music video For the First Time in 2010.

Hewson gained a lot of popularity for her role as Adele Ferguson in the Netflix thriller Behind Her Eyes in 2021. She has also starred in Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies and in the Apple TV+ drama, Bad Sisters.

During the Radio Times interview when asked about any advice she had been given on dealing with fame, Hewson commented, “Someone once said to me that no matter who you are, if you get mega-famous, you’re going to be very weird for about seven years”.

She added, “I haven’t hit that kind of stardom yet”.

The Irish actress recently played the lead role in the Netflix drama series The Perfect Couple which is due to be released in September.

This new whodunnit series is based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand. Hewson plays Amelia who is about to marry into the wealthy Winbury family when a body is washed up onto the beach leaving all the wedding guests as suspects.

Hewson spoke to the site about working with Nicole Kidman who plays Amelia’s mother-in-law in the series: “ It was incredible. I had no idea she was even part of the show. My agents kept talking about this Nicole person, and I was like, ‘Nicole who?”

“When she came on to set, we all got so giddy,” she gushed.
