The winners, decided by an expert panel and awarded at an exclusive lunch in Dublin’s Marker Hotel on November 17th, will be profiled in the December issue of VIP Magazine.

The Cosmetics and Skincare award sponsored by Boots Ireland celebrates the Irish women harnessing the best ingredients to care for your skin and enhance your natural beauty.

Here’s a bit more information about our inspiring nominees…

Charlene Flanagan & Niamh Ryan – Ella & Jo

Charlene and Niamh were both established experts in the beauty industry before deciding to join forces and start their brand Ella & Jo in 2017.

Charlene is a professional makeup artist with over eight years of experience. While specialising in bridal makeup, she soon understood the importance of looking after the skin you have.

Niamh is a skin therapist and makeup artist who has a passion for finding effective ways to help problem skin after suffering with her own skin all her life. Their products are designed to make life easier – makeup and brush cleansers and a handy facial spritz are the heroes.

Jennifer Rock – The Skin Nerd

Jennifer is the founder and CEO of The Skin Nerd, including Nerd Network online skin consultations, the Cleanse Off Mitt and Skingredients, as well as being an award-winning skin expert, consultant, tutor and best-selling author.

She trained in London, working for skincare brands that worked with nutritionists, dieticians and cosmetic doctors. From there her eyes were opened to just how much potential the skincare industry had.

Jennifer saw a gap in the market and set up the Nerd Network, her online consultancy service in 2017, which was a resounding success. Upon hearing the common skin struggles her clients were facing, Jennifer was inspired to create Skingredients, a results-based skincare line that is effective and affordable and not defined by any gender or age-range.

Sonia Deasy – Pestle & Mortar

While working alongside her husband in a portrait photography business, Sonia was looking closely at the skin of their clients daily. She realised that makeup often highlighted the skin’s imperfections instead of covering them.

This inspired Sonia to want to create a simple but effective line of skincare products that would help customers achieve the skin they deserve with ease, and so, Pestle & Mortar was born.

The mother-of-five ensured that her products suited the lifestyle of a busy woman, which is why they are driven by the belief that skincare shouldn’t be complicated. Launching the brand in 2014, Sonia has achieved her dream of owning a trusted global brand, with her products being featured in the likes of The New York Times and Vogue.

Suzie O’Neill – Ayu Cosmetics

Suzie O’Neill is a makeup artist and beauty columnist. She was working as a make-up and beauty tutor and realised the make-up brushes in the kits given to students at the college were of extremely poor quality. After some research, her makeup brand Ayu was born in 2015 and the business has grown from strength to strength since.

Starting with a range of affordable, premium quality brushes back in 2015, the brand offering has expanded to include foundations, palettes, concealers and colour cosmetics.

Michelle Regazzoli Stone –MRS Glam

With over eleven years experience in the industry, Michelle Regazzoli Stone is one of the most well established make-up artists in Ireland and the UK. Regular clients include former Miss World Rosanna Davison and The Only Way is Essex stars, Samantha and Billie Faiers.

Michelle has worked on campaigns and spreads for RTÉ, TV3’s Xposé, Ireland AM and the well known Cari’s Closet bridal boutique.

After almost ten years perfecting her skills with the cosmetics brand MAC, she left the company to further her career which has continued to flourish. Michelle has used her extensive knowledge to create her own line of Mrs. Glam make-up products with award winning Irish brand BPerfect.

Suzanne Jackson – SOSU Cosmetics

Award winning blogger turned businesswoman, Suzanne is the founder and CEO of the bestselling beauty brand, SOSU Cosmetics and Dripping Gold Luxury Tan. The blogging juggernaut that is SoSueMe.ie was created back in 2010, and its rapid success to date has been nothing short of hugely impressive. Sue has worked with a wide variety of global brands, such as Rimmel, L’Oreal, Juicy Couture and Primark, to name a few.

Following on from her success in blogging, Suzanne was inspired to create the beauty brand, SOSU Cosmetics. The brand features a wide range of game changing beauty products all of which were created from scratch.

A number of products created by Suzanne sold out within minutes, and as a result of this success, her SOSU Cosmetics brand is now being stocked by major retailers such as Primark and Boots. Her latest product, Dripping Gold Serum, launched this year.

Aideen Kate Murphy – True Beauty

Aideen Kate is one of Ireland’s most popular make-up artists, with over 200k followers across Instagram and TikTok. She has been working in the make-up industry since 2013, and it was always her dream to launch a cosmetics brand like the one she has now, True Beauty.

Prioritising self-love, self-expression and inclusivity, Aideen feels that True Beauty is more than just a cosmetics brand – it’s a mantra. The brand is all about being yourself and promoting body positivity. Her cosmetics are also vegan-friendly and cruelty free.

Aideen is best-known for her consistently positive outlook on body image and self-expression. Her aim for True Beauty was to create a space where everyone can become inspired to express themselves as they are

Dr. Helena McMahon – Seabody

Dr. Helena McMahon is the co-founder of Seabody, the first zero-waste beauty and wellness brand in Europe. The plant based beauty brand uses Helena’s extensive knowledge in biotech, molecular medicine and natural science to create luxury oceanic based food supplements and skincare products, with seaweed from the Irish Atlantic coastline.

Helena’s love for sustainable, luxury skincare was born over the course of her studies of the human body and health. Helena has a degree in Biomedical Science, a Masters in Molecular Medicine, and a PHD in Gene Cellular Therapeutics, which includes studying genetic engineering.
