Ed Sheeran’s Phoenix Park gigs could be moved to a different location.
The singer is set to play two nights in the Dublin park in May 2018.
However, some locals and councillors are objecting to the event and say they were not consulted on the matter.
According to Independent.ie members of Fingal County Council have requested a meeting with Dublin City Council in an effort to move the gigs to another section of the park.
The sold-out performances are to take place near the Ashtown Gate entrance, but locals living near that entrance are objecting and councillors believe a different area in the park would be more suitable.
The situation is similar to that of the 2014 Garth Brooks ordeal, when the singer was scheduled to play five dates in Dublin’s Croke Park, with some locals objecting.
After ruling by the DCC, the country music singer’s gigs were reduced to three nights, before Brooks refused to play just three nights, which lead to all shows being cancelled.
Ed is playing a total of seven gigs across Ireland next summer. As well as the proposed Phoenix Park dates, the Galway Girl singer is set to perform in Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork on the 4th and 5th of May, Belfast at Boucher Playing Fields on the 9th of May, followed by Pearse Stadium in Galway on the 12th and 13th.
Here’s hoping the outcome of the Phoenix Park issues won’t be like the Garth Brooks fiasco!
