Former Eastenders star Shona McGarty has just announced her engagement to Irish musician David Bracken!
David, who is the lead guitarist of the Galway-based band Blessed, popped the question in Kyoto Garden in London’s Holland Park with a pear-shaped emerald and diamond engagement ring.
The pair were having a picnic in the Japanese garden when David got down on one knee.
Recalling the big moment, he told OK Magazine that the plan almost went awry when the police showed up to announce the park was closing.
After begging for five more minutes, the couple went towards the waterfall, where David played their favourite song and they shared a dance before he proposed.
Shona and David first connected through TikTok over their shared love of music.
After talking for two years, David eventually flew to the UK to meet Shona. A year later, the couple got engaged.
They plan on marrying in Ireland in the next year or two and would adore a Christmas wedding due to David’s love for the holiday.
The 32-year-old actress recently left Eastenders after playing Albert Square favourite Whitney Dean for 16 years.
She is now starring in the thriller play 2:22 A Ghost Story alongside Irish presenter Laura Whitmore.
They are performing in the Olympia Theatre until August 11, which has given Shona and David, who mainly reside in the UK, some time to spend in David’s home country.
Wishing these two love birds a lifetime of happiness!
