Eamonn Holmes has said an emotional goodbye to Sky News as he retires from the show today.
The Irish host presented their morning show Sunrise for the past 11 years, but has now decided to hang up his boots.
Eamonn announced the news a number of weeks ago, however it was only this morning that he presented the last ever show.
Taking to Twitter, Eamonn said, “The sun sets on my 11 years on Sky News Sunrise. It’s been a privilege.”
Just before he went on air this morning, he commented, “Let’s not mess it up!”
Eamonn’s fellow Sky News reporters are certainly going to miss him around, as Claudia-Liza Armah said, “Think I want to cry. Eamonn Holmes’ last Sunrise right now on Sky News. An absolute honour to have worked with the legend.”
Despite this, his wife Ruth is happy with the choice, as she’ll get to spend more time with her other half.
“It won’t be the same without him but I have to say I’m looking forward to some lie-ins with my darling hubby,” she said.
While he’s finished with Sky News, Eamonn will still be regularly featuring on ITV’s This Morning.
