Eamonn Holmes has revealed how he asked Ruth Langsford to be his wife, and we’re not sure all women would be happy with this.
The presenting couple were hosting This Morning when they revealed that Eamonn proposed to Ruth by text!
During a segment on the show, the pair were discussing a poll which found that 50 per cent of women were disappointed with how their partner proposed.
Eamonn began to explain his own experience of popping the question.
“My wife turned to me there and said, ‘I think it’s a very nerve-wracking thing for a man.'” he said.
Ruth agreed, adding: “Yes, in case she doesn’t say yes and he was like, ‘Like you were not going to say yes’, that’s what he said. You’re very cocky”.
But Eamonn has no doubt when it came to asking Ruth the all-important question.
“I never for one second thought you would say no. Every time I’ve done it no one has ever said no,” he said.
Ruth then attempted to explain how Eamonn came to propose in such an unusual way.
“Well Eamonn proposed by text, now I know you will straightaway be going, ‘Well that doesn’t sound very romantic’ and yet it was the most romantic thing ever.
“It was very spur of the moment, we were having a day at the races…”
Cheeky Eamonn interrupted claiming the message was “like text porn”.
But Ruth elaborated, stating the it was a creative text.
“It wasn’t like that! It was proper poetry.”
Eamonn explained: “No I meant it was so luscious.”
Ruth laughed along adding that the proposal, “was very unexpected.”
“Basically he got jealous because there was some men flirting with me.”
Whether you think it was a romantic gesture or not, it clearly work for Ruth, as the pair have been married for over seven years.
