Presenter Eamonn Holmes has suffered at the hand of an imposter. A man claiming to be the ITV star lived in a luxurious hotel in Northern Ireland for two weeks before being caught.
The incident took place two years ago, but Eamonn has only spoken out about it this week, as news broke that Gloria Hunniford had been defrauded of £120,000.
The Irish born presented told of his plight with imposter Jay Cartmill on ITV’s This Morning this week.
“They lived as me in the Europa Hotel in Belfast. There was only one other Eamonn Holmes in the whole of the UK, who is named after me, and lives in Glasgow.
“They lived as me in the Europa Hotel for two weeks with a credit card that said ‘Eamonn Holmes’, and they got away with it,” he said.
Jay Cartmill was charged two-years-ago and it stated that he obtained goods and services by claiming that he has access to a Barclay’s Bank debit card in the name of Eamonn Holmes. He was issued a two year prison sentence.
Poor Eamonn.
