Dancing with the Stars make-up artist Lisa O’Connor has lashed out at Hughie Maughan, after his tanning fiasco this weekend.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio One yesterday, Hughie appeared to pass the blame of his darker appearance onto the make-up artist, after he revealed that she used a darker foundation to cover patches on his face.
The Ballymun native said, “I sprayed on tan I normally use myself but when I got to the studio yesterday I started sweating [under the lights] and I wiped my face and I ended up looking like a Dalmatian.
“There was nothing I could do, I had to go out looking as I did as they didn’t have any other colour left. It was a tan they used on Jamelia when she was doing The Voice two years ago.
“When we put it on we realised how dark it was but it was two minutes to air so I had to walk out wearing it.”
Lisa has now hit back, saying she had nothing to do with his mishap, and can’t believe he’d try to point the finger at her.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mail, she said, “I can’t believe he’s blaming me.
“It’s devastating to have people blame me. It’s a shame that such a handsome, funny, charismatic man feels the need to make a mockery of himself on tv for more attention.”
And attention, he certainly got. Hughie’s tan was all anyone could talk about on social media on Sunday night, and his name even managed to trend on Twitter for a number of hours.
