Dancing With The Stars Ireland judge Julian Benson has opened up about his life with Cystic Fybrosis.
The fashionable judge was on The Late Late Show last night, where he spoke to Ryan Tubridy about how he adjusts to living with the disease that affects so many.
He spoke openly about his childhood, saying he “felt like everybody else.” And that the condition he has does not make him who he is today.
“At the end of the day I have CF- but CF doesn’t have me,” he said.
“It doesn’t define who I am, I really mean that.
“I put that down to my mum because I was encouraged to do everything I wanted to do.
My mum always said to me, nothing is impossible. Anything is possible if you truly believed, so she encouraged me to be active, stay active – sure I wanted to do everything.
“Yes I had to take my medication and then we had to do our physiotherapy treatments – you would do that twice a day – but you had your life.”
“For the last few years, I always said to myself, ‘if I ever got to a stage in my life that I had a platform, and got to a successful point that I could maybe share my story to help other people believe in themselves, to just go for their goals and dreams, then I would share it.”
Well done to Julian for speaking so openly!
