Week two of Dancing with the Stars is here!
Yes, our celebrities got a taste of the dancefloor last week but will they manage to impress our judges once again?
With no one leaving the show tonight, our stars are safe for another week. But don’t be fooled as it’s still very much all to play for.
Here’s how they all got on…
Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent
Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent kicked off the night by dancing the Cha-cha-cha to Disco Inferno by The Tramps.
“What a start to tonight’s show – amazing!” shared judge Loraine Barry.
While Arthur Gourounlian added: “You did not come here to play, you came here to slay.”
Brian Redmond awarded the pair with six points, while both Karen Byrne and Loraine gave seven points. But it was Arthur’s eight points that had the pair beaming with joy, resulting in a total of 28 points.
Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze
Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze were full of life as they took on the Jive to the classic Mickey by Toni Basil.
However, the judges were not entirely convinced of his performance.
“You’ve got brilliant energy all the way through but you just need to tidy things up,” advised Brian, while Karen added: “I love how you attack everything. Now, there were moments where it was a little bit flat.”
They received a three from Brian, Arthur and Loraine followed by a five from Karen giving them a total of 14 points.
Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas
Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas were next on the dancefloor, performing a beautiful Viennese Waltz to Timeless by Megan Trainor.
“It truly was beautiful,” noted Loraine.
While Arthur was full of praise, adding: “Your Viennese Waltz was nothing short of magical!”
The judges awarded them a total of 29, with a score of seven from Brian, Karen and Loraine and an eight from Arthur.
Kevin Dundon and Rebecca Scott
Kevin Dundon and Rebecca Scott worked up a sweat with their lively Samba to Volare by Gipsy Kings.
“The music is fast but you know what, at times you were nearly going faster than the music. But if I’m honest, it doesn’t exactly get the chef’s kiss of approval,” shared Karen despite loving his energy overall.
“This was iconic, but in my opinion, not for the right reasons,” noted Brian. Ouch.
The judges awarded them a total of 13 points with a two from Brian, three from Loraine and a four from both Karen and Arthur.
Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena
Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena delivered a stunning performance with their Foxtrot to Birds Of A Feather by Billie Eilish.
“It’s a beautiful dance and you did dance that beautifully,” admitted Loraine.
Meanwhile, Arthur was already looking forward to what she was going to bring next week!
Their dance earned them a total of 26 points with Brian and Loraine giving them a six, followed by a seven from Karen and Arthur.
Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan
All eyes were on Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan as they danced the Tango to Tanguera by Sexteto Mayor.
“This week I’m really impressed because you gave me something I wasn’t sure we’d get,” began Brian.
While Karen wholeheartedly agreed, adding: “Did it impress me as much as last week, eh yeah? You’re doing well!”
He was awarded a score of 32 points after receiving an eight from all four judges.
Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba
Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba pulled on our heartstrings when they danced the Waltz to Moon River by Barbra Streisand in a performance dedicated to Joanna’s mother.
“Life is about making memories, and for me, you just created the most beautiful memory. Well done,” praised Loraine.
While Arthur was impressed across the board: “The music, the attitude, it was so inspiring!”
Brian awarded them five points followed by a six from Karen, Loraine and Arthur resulting in a total of 23.
Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson
Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson turned up the heart as they danced the Paso Doble to Standing In The Way of Control by The Gossip.
“The usage of the skirt, I loved that but I just wanted a little more of an attack,” shared Karen.
Meanwhile, Brian was overall pleased adding: “You’re great at portraying a character. It’s the first elimination next week so keep up the characterisation but tidy things up.”
They received a five from Brian, followed by a six from Karen, Loraine and Arthur, making that a total of 23.
Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov
Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov delivered a performance to remember with their Cha-cha-cha to Rush by Troy Sivan.
“Your coordination from head to head to toe is unbelievable to me,” began Loraine.
“That was outstanding.” And it seems all three other judges agreed!
It was eight across the board from all four judges resulting in a total of 32 points.
Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowiński
The night may almost be over but Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowiński had the crowd in their hands with their Salsa to Deep Down by Alok, Ella Eyre & Kenny Dope ft Never Dull.
“The rhythm you had with the salsa, it was just mesmerising. It was so hot,” exclaimed Arthur.
Brian, however, wasn’t as enthusiastic, adding: “I wasn’t quite as impressed this week as I was last week,” noting how she needs to work on her lifts going forward.
They were awarded 27 points in total after receiving a six from Brian, and a seven from Karen, Loraine and Arthur.
Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua
Finally, Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua finished the night on a high when they danced the Charleston to Don’t Blame It On Me by Michael Bublé.
“Danny, you were there every time Salome needed you. I’m actually lost for words,” laughed Karen.
While Loraine added: “That’s what I call a fully loaded Charleston.”
He received a very well-earned score of 39 points after getting a nine from all four judges.
