DWTS: How everyone got on in week three

And just like that, the first elimination is here!

The celebrities have been dancing their hearts out for the past two weeks.

But have they done enough to save themselves from tonight’s elimination?

Time will soon tell. Until then, here’s how they all got on…

Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas

Some of 2024’s biggest musical hits will be on offer on tonight’s show and kicking week three off with a bang was Social media star Kayleigh Trappe and her partner Ervinas Merfeldas who danced the Cha-cha-cha to the Sabrina Carpenter hit Espresso.

Judge Loraine Barry was the first to comment saying: “All the steps of the Cha-cha-cha were there and I liked it, but I just wanted a little bit more punch.”

While even Arthur Gourounlian couldn’t help but agree, adding: “I hear what the queen was saying, it felt a little bit flat for me.”

She received a six from all four judges resulting in 24 points altogether.

Kevin Dundon and his partner Rebecca Scott were next to take to the dancefloor with their energetic Quickstep to Soda Pop by Robbie Williams featuring Michael Bublé.

It’s clear, the judges could see the improvement in Kevin’s dancing skills with Brian Redmond noting that his performance was “much better than last week.”

While Karen Byrne was also impressed, adding: “In the parts, where you were in sync with Rebecca it was surprisingly really good!”

Kevin received a four from Brian and Loraine, followed by a five from Karen and Arthur resulting in a total of 18 points.

Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowiński

Former Miss Universe Ireland, Aishah Akorede and her partner Robert Rowiński pulled out all the stops as they danced the Tango to the Artemas dance track, I Like the Way You Kiss Me.

Despite getting caught up in the the props, Aishah kept her composure throughout with Loraine noting: “The mood, the colouring, the props, it really captivated everything.”

“You’re what we call a showgirl, who doesn’t hesitate to show us what you have,” proclaimed Arthur.

After receiving a seven from Brian and Loraine, followed by an impressive eight from Karen and Arthur, Aishah scored a total of 30 points.

Olympian Rhys McClenaghan and his partner Laura Nolan took on an energetic Latin routine by Cha-cha-cha-ing to the Bruno Mars hit Treasure.

“I really appreciate – you can see the work you’ve done within the technique of the Cha-cha-cha,” shared Karen.

While even Brian had praise for the olympian, adding: “Rhys, Mr consistent, week three and you did a fabulous technical job.”

Rhys was awarded 30 points after receiving a seven from Brian and Loraine, and an eight from Karen and Arthur.

Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba

Following an emotional Waltz in honour of her late mother last week, meteorologist Joanna Donnelly and her pro dance partner Maciej Zieba switched things up with a Samba to the reggae hit Give Me Hope Jo’anna by DJ Jazzy D GrooveMaster.

“For me, I saw a lot of samba, it was there. It wasn’t done quite correctly but you gave it a good go,” noted Loraine.

Meanwhile, Arthur couldn’t get enough of the performance adding: “I could not stop dancing with you. I loved it!”

Her dance resulted in a total of 19 points after receiving a four from Brian, and a five from Karen, Loraine and Arthur.

Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua

After receiving four nines and the highest score of the season last week, Mrs. Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll and his dance partner Salome Chachua were determined to keep the judges happy when they danced a Jive to C’mon Everybody by Eddie Cochran.

Despite receiving rave reviews last week, the judges weren’t as impressed with this performance with Brian sharing: “It was a bit more like airing your dirty laundry in public at times.”

While Karen added: “The music was, fast, the steps were fast and I felt you struggled at times to keep up with Salome.”

It was mixed points from the judges with Brain awarding them a five, Karen a seven, followed by a six from Loraine and Arthur, resulting in a total of 24 points.

Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent

After opening the show last Sunday with a well-received disco-inspired routine, comedian Gearóid Farrelly and his partner Stephen Vincent leaned into an elegant Viennese Waltz to R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts this week.

Loraine had high praise for the pair, explaining: “For me, you guys have created a signature move and that is a changing of the hold while you are dancing and that is incredibly difficult to do.”

“It wasn’t just a dance, it was a moment,” added Arthur.

Brian and Loraine awarded him a seven, while Karen and Arthur gave an eight resulting in 30 points.

Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson

Ireland AM presenter Elaine Crowley brought the heat to the dance floor with her Salsa to Turn the Beat Around by Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine with her partner Denys Samson.

Despite making a few mishaps, Karen praised her for continuing on, noting: “First of all, don’t be so disappointed in yourself, you kept going! Be proud of yourself.”

“The first half of the routine, the energy was so high, but like the pro that you are, you listened to Denys to get you back on track,” added Brian.

Elaine was awarded 20 points after receiving a five from all four judges.

Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena

Actress Yasmin Seky showed a different side to her this week with a quirky Charleston to the Meghan Trainor and T-Pain bop, Been Like This with her pro dance partner Simone Arena.

Clearly, her hard work paid off with Loraine noting: “Yasmin, what a Charleston. It was all there!”

Arthur also agreed, adding: “Yasmin, I’ve been waiting for you to have a moment and this was it.”

She received her highest score to date with a total of 36 points after all four judges awarded her a nine!

Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze

Mickey Joe Harte and pro partner Daniela Roze were hoping to make an impression on the judges as they danced the Foxtrot to Hozier’s Too Sweet.

And they did not disappoint! “A big improvement on the first two weeks – organised and controlled,” explained Brian.

While Karen noted: “This is your dance, you are a ballroom boy!”

After receiving a seven from all four judges, Mickey Joe was awarded a total of 28 points.

Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov

Finally, Jack Woolley transferred his Taekwondo kicks into Jiving flicks when he danced to The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s viral hit Stay, alongside partner Alex Vladimirov.

Their dance was full of energy, and the judges could feel it too, with Arthur noting: “You came out swinging on the dancefloor, you didn’t just show up, you brought the house down!”

His fellow judges couldn’t help but agree, despite sharing some words of advice on fixing his posture.

Brian, Karen and Loraine all gave Jack an eight, while Arthur pulled out a big nine resulting in a total of 33 points.
