Celebrity chef Donal Skehan has weighed in on Meghan Markle’s new cooking show in light of the recent criticism she’s faced.

The eight-episode series called With Love, Meghan features the Duchess of Sussex, who welcomes friends and celebrity guests to her California estate, offering her tips on cooking, gardening, and hosting.

However, since its release, it’s clear that not all viewers are happy with the Duchess.

Speaking to the RTÉ Guide, Donal expressed that the “pile on” that Megan is often subjected to is “unfair”.

Having said that, there is an element of the new show that does “annoy people”.

Sharing his thoughts, Donal said: “I’ve seen clips of it. I’m not one for the hate: I always feel like there’s a bit of a pile-on with her which is unfair, but I don’t think she’s done herself any favours.

“A few people tagged me in a dish she was making, a one-pan pasta dinner.

“I had 10 million views on my YouTube for the same recipe 10 years ago and it’s still one of my most popular,” he added.

“It’s actually a Martha Stewart recipe which I acknowledged at the time, but I don’t think she’s acknowledging anyone and these are the things that annoy people.”

Previously speaking to VIP Magainze, Donal spoke about the “comfort” cooking shows bring to audiences, even for those who don’t actually cook themselves!

“I get a lot of people who go, ‘I love watching your show but I don’t cook’… the food genre, the TV cooking genre, is something that’s almost comforting and nostalgic and really just kind of a switch off more than anything.

“I think we need it,” he added.
