Domhanall Gleeson and Tom Cruise star alongside each other in new film, American Made, but movie fans are going to have to wait a bit longer than anticipated to see these two share the screen.

The movie tells the story of the late Barry Seal, a fired pilot turned drug smuggler who was recruited by the US Drug Enforcement Agency to provide intelligence. It also follows his drug handler Monty Schafer, played by Domhnall.

The movie was set to be released next January, but it’s now been announced by The Hollywood Reporter that it’s being postponed until September 2017.

The reason for the delay is the tragic death of two film pilots and the serious injury of another. The men had been part of the film’s crew and were working on set of the film last year.

They were flying in the Colombia area when they hit bad weather which brought the plane down, killing the two pilots, one of which had worked on top films such as Transformers and Pearl Harbour.

The family of one of the deceased is now taking out legal proceedings against the production, pushing back its release date.
