Doireann Garrihy turned 31 last week and celebrated in style, heading away for a staycation with boyfriend Mark Mehigan.
The couple headed to West Cork for a jam-packed holiday. During which they took on the sights and challenges the rebel county had on offer.
First up was taking to the water, as the pair enjoyed some kayaking. Doireann couldn’t help but poke fun at Mark’s kayaking skills. Sharing a video of the comedian getting a jump scare from a moving boat. She said: “The jump when the kayak moved as if it was an animal.”
It wasn’t all so action-packed though, as the pair made sure to include plenty of relaxation.
Heading to the spa for some pampering and the beach for some sightseeing.
However, their quirkiest stop had to be the Model Village in Clonakilty. The tiny town featured miniature versions of the areas landmarks and a model train rolling throughout. It went over a hit with Doireann describing it as “the dottiest spot.”
Of course, while in Clonakilty, they had to sample some of the local delicacies, tasting some of the famous black pudding.
The enjoyed themselves so much, they extended their trip for another night.
With Doireann presenting remotely for her 2fm breakfast show this morning. With her co-presenter Donncha O’Callaghan joining her in the Cork studio, while Carl Mullan stayed in Dublin.
As she explained: “Dodging the drive to Dublin for one more day by staying in Cork City for the night and broadcasting from Cork in the morning…the best possible foresight by me if I say so myself”
Teasing Carl, she joked: “It’s like a creche in the Cork studio. You’re missing the craic [Carl]”
The Dancing With The Stars host also shared a snap of herself and Mark. Writing: “A weekend to remember.”
Mark went all out for his girlfriend on her actual birthday.
Organising a sweet birthday surprise for her, on Friday morning.
Upon waking up, Doireann was greeted to her living room decked out with balloons. With a large 31 in the middle, with smaller balloons reading: “I Love You” and “Big Hugs” surrounding it.
Sharing a snap of the surprise, Mark joked: “We get it Mark, you have a girlfriend.”
