As her pregnancy journey unfolds, Doireann Garrihy has already discovered a few surprises along the way.
Yes, last week Doireann announced that she and her husband Mark Mehigan are expecting their very first child.
And we couldn’t be happier for them!
Feeling relieved to finally share the news with her followers, Doireann took to Instagram to answer some of the many questions from fans.

When asked what had surprised her most about her pregnancy journey so far, Doireann couldn’t help but get a little emotional in her response.
“So many things,” she admitted. “Feeling the exact same but also completely different all at once.
“The mix of gratitude, happiness, fear and uncertainty all at once. The whole new appreciation I have for the way in which women’s bodies work,” she added.
“I’m more in awe of women and how incredibly strong they are than I ever thought I could be.
“My nana was pregnant 13 times, my other nana 7 times…I have a whole new appreciation for my own mom and sister and what they’ve done.”
Doireann then shared how guilty she’s been feeling for constantly seeing her body as something she wanted to change and work on for most of her life.
“Already my attitude is changing, and I refuse to be mean to myself in the way I used to be.”
It’s clear that this new chapter is already changing Doireann in powerful ways, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of her journey brings.
