Doireann Garrihy is one of many who have celebrated their birthday under strange circumstances, but last night she took to her Instagram page to reveal the sweet gift her boyfriend got her to mark her 28th birthday – a puppy!
Sharing the adorable snaps, Doireann wrote, “Thank you for all of the lovely birthday messages 🥳 It’s been a weird but wonderful one. This is Bertie, my birthday present @paddywilson_ ”
Continuing, Doireann shared a little info about her new puppy, including his sweet name, “so far he is a good boy, but not yet the best in all the land. He has a long way to go to get there. But he’s learning from the memory of the best 💙 Welcome Bert! 🎈#BobsYourAngel #HappyBertieToMe.”

This comes a matter of weeks after Doireann’s sister, Ailbhe, shared her heartbreak over the loss of her dog, Bobby. Doireann, who lived with Ailbhe and little Bob for a number of years, shared her devastation on social media.
“I loved Bobby from the minute I laid eyes on him. My bestest pal for the past 3 years,” she said alongside a picture of the pooch. He brought me more fun and joy than I could have ever imagined. You’ll have a big piece of my heart forever Bob.”
