Doireann Garrihy is set to take over Dermot and Dave’s weekday slot alongside weekend presenter Declan Pierce.
The regular mid-morning presenters, Dermot & Dave are heading off for two weeks on a well deserved holiday.
During their show this morning, Dermot & Dave welcomed their fellow ‘D&D’ recruits in studio to make the announcement to their listeners, while Dermot alluded to Doireann and Dec just getting the gig because their names begin with ‘D’ by saying, “If you were called Lisa, you wouldn’t get the gig.”
Doireann Garrihy, who had her first show on the national airwaves with Today FM in November said; “There’s massive Dermot and Dave sized shoes to fill but Dec and I can’t wait to get into the hot seats! We’re suspicious that we may have only been asked because our names begin with D but lookit…we’ll take it!!”
Last night Today FM teased out an image across their social media channels and asked listeners to guess who the cover presenters could be, while no-one guessed correctly, the station was kept entertained with doubleheader guesses such as Daithi O’Sé & Dermot Bannon, Podge & Rodge and of course, Deirdre Barlow and Danny Dyer.
‘Doireann & Declan’ are set to kick off their first mid-morning show on Today FM this coming Monday (11th February) at 9 am with a world exclusive from Hozier who will be performing his new single ‘Almost’ for the first time.
