Des Bishop and reality TV star Hannah Berner recently announced their exciting news that the pair are newly engaged.
Although they began dating just under a year ago, Des immediately knew she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Sharing a loved-up snap showing off the ring, the comedian beamed, “When you know, you know. Laughs for life.”
Now, Des has revealed how he popped the question, and it’s safe to safe it’s a little out of the ordinary.
Speaking on Girls Gotta Eat podcast, he shared that he proposed by writing Hannah a song.
Explaining that it was a nod to the early days of their relationship as he would write her “funny songs” while she was filming Bravo’s Summer House, Des filmed himself singing his song of choice on an autotune app and sent it to Hannah.
“I texted her the video. We watched it together and then I proposed,” he shared.
“The funny thing about proposals is there’s so much prep that goes into it, it almost took me by surprise the magnitude of the situation.
“I did it and then she was like, ‘Are you joking?’ I was like, ‘No’. And then she started bawling crying.”
Des and Hannah met online, where they got on famously well. Once restrictions lifted, they decided to meet for a coffee and as the saying goes, the rest is history.
“I’ve fallen in love with a woman,” he told Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE Radio One.
“We didn’t know each other, we just followed each other on Instagram. I noticed that she was isolating near here and said, ‘Do you want to get a coffee?’ and boom, we clicked immediately.
“It has been quite an intense falling in love experience. It’s been more powerful than I have ever experienced in my life so I would be confident in saying I will certainly make an effort because it feels like it is the one.”
