Dermot O’Leary spills the beans on season two of Bridgerton as wife Dee Koppang works on the hit show

Dermot O’Leary has opened up about what’s in store for the second season of Bridgerton, as he revealed his wife Dee Koppang has been working on hit Netflix series.

The producer and director has worked on a number of huge projects, including official documentary movies about the likes of David Bowie, Justin Bieber and One Direction.

Most recently, she’s been involved in The Crown and now, Bridgerton too.

Sharing his secret connection to the show, Dermot O’Leary told This Morning viewer, “I have to confess here, my wife worked on it and she was the second unit director.”

Speaking about what audiences can expect from season two, he continued, “There are many books about the Bridgerton series, and each central character of the series will be the central character per book.

“So the first book was The Duke & I, which is about the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, the next one is The Viscount Who Loved Me, which is Anthony Bridgerton, played by the brilliant Jonathan Bailey.”

Filming began for the second season a few weeks ago, as four exciting new cast members were revealed, including an Irish actor.

No stranger to a tv or movie set, Calam Lynch has already featured in Derry Girls, Dunkirk and Disney’s Black Beauty. Now, he’s set to take on the role of Theo Sharpe in the hit Netflix period drama.

Theo is a hardworking printer’s assistant. But he’s not just a working class man, he’s also an intellectual who fights for the rights for all.

He’ll appear alongside Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn and Rupert Young.

Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma in the show. Edwina has been taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante.

She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing. But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match.

Shelley Conn will play Mary Sharma. An Earl’s daughter whose marriage to a tradesman once embroiled her family in scandal, Lady Mary has now returned to London with her own daughters and is forced to endure the scrutiny of the ton yet again.

Finally Rupert Young will play Jack. Jack is the newest member of the ton with a connection to one of its most notable families.

Following the show’s launch in late 2020, it became the highest rated programme on Netflix, with 82 million streams in only 30 days.

With such success, it was no surprise the period drama was given the green light for a second season, as well as a third and fourth.
