Dermot Kennedy fans will be waiting a little while longer for his high-anticipated upcoming album, Sonder.
The album was originally scheduled for release in September, but was push back till the 4th of November. And now it has been postponed once again, but only until the 18th of November. The Dubliner revealed the unfortunate news on social media and apologised to fans. While it’s sad we’ll have to wait for more music, Dermot actually had an incredibly sweet reason for delaying the release.
Saying on Instagram: “Hey guys, I just wanted to write you a brief message to let you know that the release of Sonder has been pushed back to November 18th. I truly hate doing this, but due to the postal strike in the UK I just wouldn’t be able to get the album out to you in time.”
“I feel very strongly about everyone getting this album at the same time so we can share in this experience together, so it is the right thing to do so I can guarantee they’ll arrive.”
Continuing on he said: “I’m still gonna come and do all my planned performances in the next couple of weeks, and if you’re coming to those we can sing some of these new songs together!
“I love you guys, I really appreciate your support and your patience so so much, more than you know, and I’m sorry to make you wait a little big longer. But it will be worth it, I promise you that. I hope you can understand. Sonder is going to define my life for the next few years, so I hope that over time this extra 2 weeks feels small. I hope you’re well, and I can’t wait to see you soon. Love , Dermot X”
Sonder will only be Dermo’s second studio album and while we will be waiting a little while longer for the full release, we do all ready have some singles to keep us entertained in the meantime.
The lead single from Sonder, ‘Something to Someone’, back in May to critical acclaim and has reached over 20 million streams across platforms.
The second single Dreamer was released in June, along with an accompanying music video. Which received plenty of praise and has already hit a million views on YouTube. While the third single, Kiss Me, was released in September.
So this is plenty to hold us over, till Somber is out. Roll on the 18th of November.
