Irish actress and comedian Deirdre O’Kane has revealed that she doesn’t want her children to go down the same career path as her, and would ‘dread’ it if they ended up in showbiz.
She admitted that she really wouldn’t want her children Daniel and Holly to pursue acting as a career because it’s so emotionally tough.
Speaking on The Ray D’Arcy Show, Deirdre said, “I dread the thought that either of my children might go into this business. It’s heartache most of the time!”
The star is currently back in Dublin for her show ‘Are You There Garth? It’s me Margaret’ which is running in the Gaiety Theatre mid October, but she has admitted that she’s considering making her stay in Dublin a little more permanent.
The actress is living in London at the moment, but would like to return home.
“It’s just time. Ireland is a very tough country to leave. We have such a strong identity. I think I’ve just had enough. I really miss the mayhem,” she said.
