Daniel O’Donnell is starting to feel the nerves ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut tonight, but hopes the jitters don’t interfere with his performance too much.

Speaking on The Today Show, Daniel admitted, “I’m nervous as hell. I might look chilled, but I’m not a bit chilled.”

“We have done an awful lot of rehearsals and Kristina is a brilliant teacher. It’s up to me now to try settle my nerves. I’m sure none of us are going to be perfect as far as dancing is concerned, but it’s been such a great experience so far,” he added.

Daniel’s whole performance is set to have a very Irish feel to it, as he’s dancing to When Irish Eyes Are Smiling. The singer has been putting in so much effort and training, and hopes it works out well tonight.

“We train about five or six hours a day. We go in in the morning and there’s cameras there for a couple of hours just watching what you’re doing, then you’re left alone to rehearse,” he said.

Even if Daniel does mess up during his live performance, which we don’t think he will, he has a couple of tricks up his sleeve – a trusty barn dance! But we might have to wait until later in the competition to catch a glimpse of it.

“I was showing Kristina some steps from a barn dance, so you may see some steps from that. If I last long enough, you might see some of that on Strictly. I don’t know if the judges will appreciate it, but we’re certainly talking about slipping it in there,” he said.

We can’t wait to see if this happens! The show kicks off at 9pm on BBC One, and Today airs weekdays on RTE One at 4pm.
