Daniel O’Donnell is taking a break from touring due to several “health challenges” he’s currently battling.

A spokesperson for the Donegal native shared the news in a statement, noting that he will continue his commitments until December 2025.

“After much reflection, Daniel has decided to take an extended break from touring,” the statement began.

“This decision was not made lightly, but it is driven by the health challenges he has faced over the past few years, particularly with allergies and recurrent chest infections while touring extensively.

“Daniel will continue his touring commitments until December 2025, but he has realised that he needs to step back and focus on his health and well-being.

“This pause is essential for him to recharge and recover. He emphasises that ‘this is not a retirement but rather a temporary break’.”

Despite the break, Daniel will still host his annual Opry le Daniel show on TG4 early next year.

He will also perform on Gertrude Byrne’s Mediterranean Cruise in September 2026, but these are the only two confirmed performances he will undertake.

This is not the first time Daniel has announced a break in his career.

Back in 2014, he decided to step back from touring for personal reasons.

The decision came after his wife, Majella, underwent successful treatment for breast cancer.

While in 2012, after marking 30 years in the music industry, Daniel announced that he was cutting back on his touring commitments and schedule.
