“And Louis would know a star?"

Dancing with the Stars kicked off on Sunday night with the boys showing off their moves.

Though the opening night proved popular, Louis Walsh had some criticism on the choice of celebrities.

“There are no stars,” he said previously.

“I mean, they shouldn’t have a show called Dancing With the Stars when there’s no stars on it, seriously. There isn’t one star.”

He went on to say: “There isn’t any big household names, even in their own house.”

Hitting back at the criticism, DWTS producer Larry Bass had his own harsh words for the X Factor judge.

“This coming from Louis?” he said.

“And Louis would know a star? When was the last time Louis signed an act that actually had a hit record?”

Larry worked with Louis on You’re A Star, and now, their reality shows are about to go head to head when Ireland’s Got Talent launches next month.

“Look it. I put Louis on the telly, I’ll watch Louis die on telly. Y’know, Louis is around as long as I am.

“I go back a long way with Louis. I did sound for a lot of his acts. I have the scars from Linda Martin and Chips. So Louis and I go back a long time.

The producer added that he feels as though Louis may be feeling nervous about shows going up against one another.

“Louis is great and I love him to bits, but Louis knows a good show. He wouldn’t be talking about us if he didn’t think we were competition.”
