There’s plenty of Christmas traditions that can’t be argued with, but Dáithí Ó Sé has strong thoughts on one recent tradition in particular.
Speaking about Christmas and the traditions, he shared: “There’s such excitement with writing Santa’s letter and sending it off.”
Perhaps speaking the minds of many parents while on The Today Show, he jokingly added: “but The Elf on the Shelf is the biggest pain in the backside.
“Those rituals add to the whole experience and lead-up to Christmas Day. The magic of the festive season is brilliant.”
The Elf on the Shelf is loved and loathed by many, with the tradition starting in 2005 in conjunction with the book of the same name.
The Today Show is moved to a new primetime slot for Christmas week, airing at the same time as The Six O’Clock show. Speaking of this, Dáithí revealed to the Irish Mirror:
“This is the fifth year of the show and we are well used to going out against them. Some of our shows hit over 360,000 viewers last year.
“It is a nice slot for us to be in and it shows us off to a whole new audience.”
Before adding: “People who wouldn’t be home during the day and can get a small flavour of what we do during the rest of the year.”
