Dáithí Ó Sé takes great pride in keeping his principles and values to himself, however, the presenter recently opened up about his faith in a candid discussion on the Unfiltered podcast with Sarah Jane Foster.
Yes, he explained how he continues to pray every night and has done so ever since making his first Holy Communion.
Starting their conversation off, Dáithí said: “I wouldn’t tell many people about how I do things. You’re giving your power away.”
He then asked Sarah: “Would you look at me and say that I’m a person who prays every night?”
“I do though,” he responded.
“People pray for different reasons. People pray because they think it will get them into heaven and it might.
“[I pray] because it makes me feel good in that moment and time where I say my prayers and go to sleep.
“I’ve always done that since my communion when I was seven or eight. I’ve done it ever since for the last 40 years.”
Dáithí then talked about how he tries to visit a church as often as he can and light candles for people.
He acknowledged that this might not be for everybody but each to their own.
When it comes to attending mass the presenter revealed that he does go a few times a year, and when he does go, he enjoys it.
“I don’t believe everything the priest says. I pick some of it and I take what I like and I carry that with me – no more than watching a TV show. You’re not going to take the whole TV show home with you, but you’re going to take pieces of that home with you too. It’s very similar to that.”
