Maura Higgins is making it big in America, after joining the US series of Love Island as a social ambassador.
But while the gig is a massive deal, could it just be a starting point for Maura?
Well, maybe as a new Love Island spin-off has just been announced – an all-star edition, The Love Island Games. This cheeky new iteration will see Islanders faced with both team and couples’ challenges, all while navigating dating, eliminations, recoupling and dramatic new arrivals.
The series sounds amazing, and as a fan-favourite, everyone would love to see Maura in the villa. But, that won’t be happening as her relationship with stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton was quietly confirmed last month. So she is not single, nor ready to mingle, plus the model has previously made it clear she has little interest in returning to villa life.
Well, as a contestant that is, but Maura seems fairly happy to host. The series was only officially confirmed, so little is known about The Love Island Games and there is no word on who will be fronting the series. But we’ve picked up on a few hints Maura might be the hostess with the mostest for the spin-off.
Firstly the spin-off is produced by ITV Entertainment, an ITV America company, the same company Maura currently works with as social ambassador for Love Island USA.
Secondly she re-shared the teaser for the series, and also commented on the announcement with clapping hands emojis, suggesting she will be involved in some capacity.
The new series will include former contestants from the UK, Australian, and US editions of the reality series, but each has a different host. With Maya Jama fronting the UK series, Sarah Hyland hosting the American version, and Sophie Monk at the helm of the Australian edition.
So maybe rather than picking from the current hosts, The Love Island Games will have a new star at the helm.
Maura also has plenty of practice thanks to her work as social ambassador.
Furthermore Love Island USA fans have loved seeing Maura on their screens, so much so, they have called for her to take over hosting duties on the original series.
As one fan wrote: “Maura for host plz. She’s working recaps, interviews and guest host. Just hand it over to her. Da Queen deserves it now.”
While another said: “@loveislandusa stop messing with us and let @MauraHiggins host the show!!”
According to BoyleSports Maura has been backed into 10/11 odds from 5/4 to host the next season of the US hit reality dating show.
A spokesperson for BoyleSports, Sarah Kinsella said: “Love Island fans are calling for Maura Higgins to front the American version… the reaction from her appearance in the USA suggests we could be seeing a lot ‘Maura’ her!”
