Comedy legend Brendan Grace has sadly passed away

Brendan Grace has sadly passed away, aged 68.

The much-loved comedian was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, which was discovered when he was admitted to hospital for pneumonia four weeks ago.

Receiving treatment for both phenomena and cancer the past month, RTE reports that this family say he died peacefully and was very grateful for the support from fans all over the world since his illness was announced.

Brendan previously suffered ill health, but continued to perform, until his recent diagnoses forced him to cancel his summer tour.

Tributes have been pouring in for the comedy legend.

Brendan O’Caroll has praised Brendan for his role in paving the way for Irish comedians.

“He opened doors for so many of us and leaves a legacy of love and laughter that will echo through this land and we will all mourn his passing. Rest peacefully Bottler you’ve earned it,” he said.

Tom Kelly, Brendan’s booking agent has described him as “one of the greatest entertainers of this era.”

Brendan Grace is survived by wife Eileen, children and grandchildren.
