Colin Farrell might not have taken home the Oscar, but his trip to the Academy Award ceremony was well worth it, as the Dubliner took the opportunity to call out American series, Saturday Night Live, for mocking himself and Brendan Gleeson’s accents in The Banshees of Inisherin.
During this weekends episode of the popular US sketch show, they performed a skit about the Oscars. During which a red carpet reporter interviews “Colin” and “Brendan” only for the pair to be unintelligible, speaking gibberish.
At the end of the interview, the report says: “Wow. They haven’t even started drinking yet.”

The clip proved controversial with some finding it offensive, while others lambasted the skit as simply unfunny.
However, Colin and Brendan never addressed the impressions, until last night’s Oscar ceremony. When host Jimmy Kimmel took a shot at the Irish accent as well.
Speaking with audience members, the American talk show host stopped by Colin, asking: “Colin I loved your performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. My question is what were you saying in the movie?”
While the crowd erupted into laughter, Colin had the last laugh simply replying: “I’d like him to go on YouTube and he can check out SNL from last night and he’ll have a good idea.”
Colin’s comments come as a bit of a surprise as the actor made an appearance on the series last October.
Co-star Brendan Gleeson was on hosting duties, performing several sketch on the night, playing a 67-year-old pretending to be a teenage, a news reporter, and an ancient warrior. And was joined by his close friend and frequent co-star, Colin, for the opening monologue.
In the sketch Colin plays a version of himself, who is incredibly needy, wanting Brendan’s validation. Before the lads joined up for a sing-song.
