Colin Farrell is returning to Dublin to make a film about Ireland’s homeless football team – a subject very close to the actor’s heart.
The Dubliner was in Amsterdam last week to support the Irish team in the first game of the real Homeless World Cup.
Now, the actor plans to come back to Dublin and tell the fictional story of a group of homeless men who formed the Irish team, and their journey in the competition.
According to reports, filming is set to begin in a couple of months, and Brendan Gleeson is also in talks for a role in the movie.
Speaking to the Sunday World, a source said, “It’s a feel good drama about these men and their determination to compete despite the various difficulties and challenges in their lives.”
They continued, “It’s very much Colin’s project and he will co-produce as well as star. It’s a subject close to his heart and he’s looking forward to coming back to Dublin.”
