Ciara Doherty has revealed she was over the moon when her husband was allowed join her for a recent baby scan to see their second child.
Due to the on-going pandemic, there’s been many restrictions in place and in maternity hospitals, women have had to go to their appointments alone.
Over the last few weeks these have eased ever so slightly, and when her partner was allowed to join her for a check-up, Ciara was over the moon.
“We were really lucky in that Rich was allowed in for the 20 week scan so I was thrilled for him,” she told the RTE Guide.
“I feel really sorry for first time parents, especially the dads because you can’t but feel left out when you can’t come in to those scans and see and hear the heartbeat; it creates an immediate bond and excitement.
“A lot of partners have been denied that so Richard and I were most grateful that he got in for that big scan. I am also grateful that this is my second time around and not the first.”
Ciara and Richard are already parents to little Renee, and she can’t wait to spend time with her two children while on maternity leave for the rest of this year.
“It’s six months out of work and I could be working in Virgin Media until I’m 70 if they let me so I’ve plenty of time to get stuck back into work,” she said.
“Maternity leave means there’s a new baby in the house and I know how much of a joy Renee has brought to our lives so I’m at the stage where I can’t wait to meet him or her and get to know them.”
We wish them continued luck and happiness going forward.
